Overview

The 2nd International Meeting of Poets in Kiato welcomed more than 35 poets and artists from July 3 to July 5, 2024, in the beautiful coastal town of Kiato, Municipality of Sikyonia.

The event was organized by the Municipality of Sikyonia, led by Deputy Mayor of Culture Konstantinos Syrianos, in collaboration with:

  • Poet Lefteris Achmetis, President of the Kiato Poets’ Meeting
  • Poet Penny Delta, Artistic Director of the Meeting
  • Professor of Creative Writing Triantafyllos Kotopoulos, Special Advisor to the Festival

The festival was held under the auspices of the University of Western Macedonia, the University of the Peloponnese, and the Master’s Program in “Rhetoric, Human Sciences, and Education” (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens & University of Western Macedonia).

Theme & Key Participants

This year’s theme explored the interaction between poetry and other art forms, emphasizing poetry as a bridge between the arts.

Among the distinguished guests were:

  • Klaus Ankersen, renowned Danish poet and performer
  • Kutai Onayli, prominent Turkish scholar and poet from Princeton University

Additionally, poets, musicians, painters, actors, performers, comedians, directors, journalists, writers, philologists, and sculptors gathered in Kiato to celebrate the art of poetry and its intersections with other creative disciplines.

  • Kostas Kanavouris, journalist
  • Eugenia Bogianou, prose writer
  • Christina Lampousi, actress
  • Katerina Dimou, singer-songwriter
  • Aristarchos Papadaniil, director

  • Evangelia Tatsi, poet
  • Nikos Fotopoulos, poet and academic (Professor, University of the Peloponnese)
  • Alexandros Myroforidis, (PhD, University of Western Macedonia)

The 2nd International Meeting of Poets in Kiato successfully fostered dialogue, collaboration, and artistic exchange, strengthening the bonds between poetry and the broader artistic community.
