Festival Overview
The 2nd International Poetry Festival of Serres, held from November 22 to 24, 2024, was organized by the Association of Philologists of Serres in collaboration with the University of Western Macedonia (Master’s Program in Creative Writing). The festival, under the theme “Upon a Foreign Verse”, hosted 35 distinguished poets from around the world, who participated in poetry readings, artistic interventions, and educational activities. These events engaged secondary school students, renowned visual artists, cultural institutions, and local entrepreneurs, fostering a multifaceted dialogue between poetry, education, and the arts.
Scientific Committee of the Festival
- Giorgos Andreou – Greek composer, lyricist, music producer, and writer; Artistic Director of DIPETHE (Municipal and Regional Theatre of Serres).
- Triantafyllos Kotopoulos – Professor of Creative Writing and Modern Greek Literature, poet.
- Christina Papadimitriou – PhD in Modern Greek Literature.
- Isidora Malama – Artistic Director of the Festival, Philologist, MA in Creative Writing, President of the Association of Philologists of Serres.
- Christos Koukis – Poet and Director of the International Poetry Festival of Crete.
