The University, as an institutional pillar of intellectual development, must place culture at the heart of its mission. The University of Western Macedonia, as a higher education and research institution, does not limit itself to the dissemination of knowledge and the advancement of sciences but seeks to highlight a new cultural horizon that transcends the restrictive mandates of entrepreneurship and the market. It invests in the artistic expression of its academic community members and the dissemination of the cultural heritage of the Greek periphery and the nation.
The Culture Committee, aiming to strengthen and promote the cultural and artistic activities of the University of Western Macedonia, aspires to create a “space” for collective creation and expression. Our desire is to direct the artistic vision of our students towards cultural expressions that reflect the concerns and experiences of Greek society and beyond.
Extroversion is an integral part of the philosophy of the Culture Committee. Our goal is to make Western Macedonia a center of cultural expression and dialogue, bringing together cultural and artistic figures, critics, and scholars from around the world. In this endeavor, students of the UWM, as well as external collaborators with recognized work in the arts, criticism, and academic research, will be our valuable allies.
