The Culture Committee of the University of Western Macedonia serves as a key vehicle for promoting cultural democracy. It engages with citizens, members of the academic community, independent scholars, artists, curators, associations, and other stakeholders.

The Vision of the Culture Committee

With a focus on every cultural and artistic expression, its vision is to provide opportunities for dialogue between artists and scholars, offering a platform for creative and critical expression, connecting art, sciences, and society.

To mobilize actions that will offer a pluralistic, inclusive, expressive, and critical contribution to the cultural space, with Western Macedonia as its focal point.

Purpose of the Committee

To serve as a convergence point for the cultural concerns of the local community with the international academic and artistic community.

Objectives of the Committee

– To foster meaningful interaction between academic staff, students, and the local community on issues concerning the cultural and social evolution of the region in which UWM operates.
– To expand and enrich the knowledge base of the academic community on cultural issues.
– To create ideal conditions for a fruitful artistic and cultural dialogue between artists and scholars.
– To emphasize the importance of producing and transmitting cultural heritage from generation to generation.
– To connect the local community and the academic environment with the international artistic sphere.
– To support creativity and artistic pluralism, multiculturalism, collectivity, solidarity, and volunteerism, focusing on Humanity.
– To establish the University as a humanitarian institution and a crossroads of ideas and intellectual currents, fostering creative expression and reflection, with an emphasis on its humanistic character.
– To encourage and contribute to the extroversion of UWM, highlighting not only its research but also its social and broader role.
